That's the cover I made for the Queer Sci Fi group I'm part of on Facebook. I took 2nd place, YAY, but since I didn't win they won't be using it for the cover of the eBook featuring all the 300 word flash stories inspired by the theme, Discovery.
Now I need to come up with an idea for a new eBook so I can use that cover! What do you think of when you see it?
I think of the white light people mention seeing during a near death incident. Maybe a portal to another world or an alternate universe?

So my inspiration is maybe more fantasy than si-fi. but I wrote it anyway....
it was similar with other ppl said --- it was about other dimension, but how about the dimension not just one but hundred or maybe thousand dimensions/worlds. in the main place, it called the gate*, it only open once in awhile when the moon (or the satellite) turn a Sade of blue (like moon eclipse or something)*, in the main place it open more frequently and it had easy access due the locals had builded a developing city surrounding the gate. The gate was used for trading goods, materials etc. anyway the black market often abducted ppl from more primitive dimensions to sell for slaves, (it was illegal but nobody had file a missing person report and it was the most profitable trade so the corrupt authority didn't do anything). Sometime someone accidentally stumbled to the main place they often ended up stay at the place, coz while in the main place the gate was a common knowledge it was not the same with each dimension (it's maybe open in random place/time, or open just one in hundred/thousand years, or the dimension is so many it can get really dangerous if he/she don't know the port in his/her home dimension, they can end up stuck in a place more dangerous than the main place. etc)*.
so I think this plot is flexible coz it had many dimension, so you can mix some species that had unique ability ;), and maybe Mpreg plot. ok I leave the rest to you... :P
